International Program

For 50 years, NRECA International has provided women, men and children in developing countries with access to safe, reliable and affordable electricity. For these 110 million people who have benefitted from their work, life has changed and improved in the form of better education, health, provision of clean water and economic opportunity. Agricultural productivity, millions of new jobs in micro and small enterprises, and higher incomes and quality of life for rural communities in more than 42 countries around the world are measurable outcomes of their commitment.

August 1st to August 17th of 2016 the Missouri Electric Cooperatives along with Oklahoma's Electric Cooperatives sent twelve line-workers, an electrician, an engineer and two of their own employees to Riberalta, Bolivia to build a project in coordination with NRECA. The Statewide based project consisted of stringing wire to 220 poles, setting 7 transformers, hanging 15 dusk to dawn lights, wiring multiple houses and assessing the existing electrical system for safety and reliability. The project provided electric availability and a better quality of life to more than 360 homes in the northern Amazonian territory of Bolivia.
